Pugg Mahones has a veritable wealth of space, spared of the tight confines of many Irish pubs, Carlton's Puggs mixes a traditional Irish pub with a contemporary bar feeling, and succeeds in creating a fun experience if you're after few quiet drinks, or up for a session. The two levels at Puggs have two quite different feels to them. Downstairs there are more tables and booths. Upstairs the mood is perkier, and a lot of fun. There is usually a cover band and a DJ, and lots of happy people.

Tram 8 - Travels from Moreland Rd, (Moreland Station) in Coburg, along Lygon St in Brunswick, then onto Elgin St, (PUGG MAHONES – tram stop 112, Cnr of Elgin and Lygon), Swanston St in Carlton, (Melbourne University), and the City, (Flinders St Station), St Kilda Rd, (Domain Interchange), Domain Rd and then onto Toorak Rd all the way to Glenferrie Rd in Malvern.
